_____________________________________ Wednesday, August 31, 2022 This day started with an early morning appointment with the auto mechanic for the 72,000 mile service. This mechanic is located in Roseburg and recommended by my friend Glen. I brought my bike and took myself on a ride while the mechanic did his work. When I returned he had a long list of items he did on the car and much cheaper than the Subaru dealer who had already given me a quote of more than $1,000. This mechanic also found the rear brakes needed to be replaced. After the ride and auto work I followed up on a Facebook Ad and bought a used Yakima hitch mounted bicycle carrier. Then off to Costco. _____________________________________ Tuesday, August 16, 2022 We are leaving Oregon for the winter months to stay warm in Arizona the last few days of September. My driver's license expires in February while I am in Arizona. Thinking ahead, I made a DMV reservation for today to renew my driver's license. Oregon now offers a "real ID" license following federal identification rules. I will be getting a "real ID" driver's license. I must bring my passport plus an official looking envelope addressed to me at my stated address. I actually brought 5 envelopes. One from my bank, one from Oregon PERS, one from my financial advisor and a couple of advertising envelopes. The clerk took only one, the bank envelope. My new "real ID" cost $70 and does not expire until February, 2031. I told the clerk it was a bargain! I went to recycle next before returning home to prepare for my four day trip with Glen to find some Oregon Scenic Bikeways in central Oregon. I had planned on 33 miles but cut my ride short to be sure I was back in time to brush Abby before she went to the groomer. _____________________________________ Friday, August 5, 2022 Riding this morning while Gwen goes to garage sales with girl friends. When the ride was done I make myself breakfast even though it was almost lunch time. Next, I took Abby for a ride in the golf cart to get rid or trash. Then I drove her to the storage area for a hike. She found a rabbit to chase. She never catches them but gets great exercise with the run. After finding two more rabbits we head back home. Gwen and I had Tostadas at the local Mexican restaurant. _____________________________________ Thursday, August 4, 2022 This has been an Abby day Driving her to the garbage bin then to the office to pick up the mail. After the errands we drove through the storage area and hiked the trail to the back of the property then hiked back through the field. Another golf cart came driving through the field which gave Abby a chance to run at full speed chasing the wandering golf cart. Of course she returned immediately to make sure she didn't lose contact with me. The bike was very dirty, so was the golf cart and the car so I pressure washed all. I also changed my bike tires back to a new road tire, 28 mm wide, a narrow tire for this bike.
