I rode the Wednesday night
Umpqua Velo Club ride tonight.
The entire month of June, the rides
have started here in Sutherlin. That changes
in July. Tonight's ride was riding fast
for 29 miles over familiar roads.

My day began with a 22 mile
bike ride. I returned in time
to invite Gwen to lunch since
her lunch plan with girlfriends had
fallen through. Toward the end of lunch
I got a call from the Roseburg hospital.
Our neighbor needed a ride home and
I had volunteered to pick him up. He
is feeling much better and wants to be
home. After returning home, I repaired
the shop door from sticking. We ended
the day by watching more of "Island Renovation"
on the HGTV Discovery + network.

It's another warm day but
not breaking any records. I am
desperate for more shade in
the front of the shed. My friend, Glen,
installed a retractable awning at his house
which I really liked. I ordered one for
our shed and installed it today.

We set a new heat
record today. The last
all-time high heat record was
made in 1946, 75 years ago. It was
109° F. Today's new all-time-record
as set in Roseburg at 113° F. I
recorded 111.7° F here at my
weather station. I can't say we enjoyed
being a part of this new record but
we hope the June 27, 2021 all-time-heat
record lasts a long time.

I got the unique opportunity
to ride the McKinzie Pass with
no vehicle traffic. This was an Umpqua
Velo Club ride with six members
doing the ride from the McKinzie Ranger
Station. This was 4200 feet of climbing.

It is a very busy road but wide
