This has been a long day with
much to do getting ready to leave
Oregon tomorrow morning.
This will be the first time driving from
Oregon to Arizona with no RV to drive
or tow. I have much to return to Tucson
hence the load on the roof. There is still
plenty of room for Dave. Tomorrow morning
I'm using my air compressor to blow all water
out of the Teton plumbing. I will be removing
the hot water heater anode rod which will drain
all the water out of the hot water tank. Once
that's done, I'll be on the road.

It was a SPA day for Dave today.
His SPA lady is in Roseburg
at Pet Pros. It's the groomer which
Saving Grace Pet Shelter sent him. Lelanie
did such a good job on his shelter groom I
took him to her a second time today. He
is nice and clean now. He must be his best
before he meets Abby next week.

It is Monday night football! Denver
is at Kansas City for this first Monday
night game. As I type this the fourth
quarter has just begun. Kansas City is
dominating the poor Broncos.

Sunday: September 13, 2026
NFL Sunday is back. The game I was
most interested in was the Buffalo Bills
and Houston Texans. I am a Josh Allen fan.
The Bills pulled off a win at the end
of the fourth quarter.

Saturday: September 12, 2026
The biggest event today was how
Oklahoma State football team with only
a 5% chance beat the #6 Oregon Ducks
Football team 39 to 31. Since the game ended
the internet has been buzzing with comments
and replays of the game. I would hate to be
a player on that plane flying back to Eugene
assuming the team did not have to walk home.

Friday: September 11, 2026
This is "Patriot's Day" and it
is also the day the US Open Tennis
finalists are learned. Zverev will be
in the final. As I write this, Shelton
and Tiafoe are tied at one set each. Both
are from the USA. Whoever wins will play
Zverev in the final.

Several months ago I purchased an
electric fireplace at a garage sale mostly
for the ambiance rather than the heat.
This morning Dave chose the fireplace
thinking the warmth might wake him up.

It's back to warmer days now. Today
is when the NFL begins their 2026-27
season. The first game is in Seattle with
the Seahawks playing with the New England
Patriots. Those are the Superbowl Teams from
February this year. As I type this, New England
is ahead by one score.

Tuesday: September 8, 2026
We are in the quarterfinals of the
US Open Tennis tournament. The
biggest match today is between Ben Shelton
of the USA and Carlos Alcaraz of Spain.
The match began an hour ago so it has
a long way to go and may not end until
tomorrow, New York time. Alcaraz has
won the first set.

What did you do on Labor Day.
I discovered a new sport although
I only watched it for a few minutes.
It's Lacrosse. Today Denver played Utah.
Denver won by one point. I couldn't see
the ball and only knew when someone had
the ball when they ran around the
field looking desperate to pass it to
someone else.

I wait all spring and summer for the
football season to begin. Today was not
a disappointment with two college football
games of interest to me. First was the
Washington Apple Cup with Washington State
Cougars playing in Seattle against the
Washington Huskies. The Huskies won
during the second half. The second game was
Wisconsin playing Notre Dame on the
Green Bay Lambeau Field. I think Notre Dame
was expecting an easy contest but Wisconsin
is making it difficult for them.

Dave and I watched the Oregon State
Beavers get tromped by Houston. Then
we watched Boise State give the Oregon
Ducks a football lesson! The ducks did not
look like the #2 team in the nation.

Rain at last. This part of Oregon can go without
rain all summer. We finally got some today.
After noon, Dave and I drove to Costco to
get a few things. We both had dinner once
we got back home. Each morning I get
to watch some of the La Vuelta, the Spanish
bicycle race similar to the Tour de France. Podecar
won the Tour de France and was going to
win La Vuelta however he had a horrible crash
a few days ago and is out of the race. Mas is
the current leader.

Tuesday: September 1, 2026
Today was the Highlander mechanic day.
I wanted to be sure the Highlander had a
"wellness check" before I started the long
drive back to Arizona. My mechanic works out
of a garage on a rural road near the Farm Store.
I had a plan...drop off the Highlander and walk
the 1.5 miles to the Farm Store for coffee and
something for breakfast. It took me 25 minutes
to walk that 1.5 miles only to learn the Farm
Store is closed on Tuesday. So I walked 1.5 miles
back to my mechanic. I couldn't believe how busy
that rural road was at 9 am in the morning.
