July 18, 2010: A travel day to Santa Fe. We are in the mountains to the east of Santa Fe but only about 7 miles from the capital. We are hoping for cooler temperatures since we are in the tall trees.

July 17, 2010: Tierra Amarilla is only ten miles from our campsite. There is a road leading from Tierra Amarilla over the Carson National Forest mountains to Taos. We drove to the highest point in the mountains to get a view to the west of valley where we are camped.

July 16, 2010: This was a hiking day. The trailhead is only a few miles from our campsite. I wish it was 10 degrees cooler again. We started early to try to stay cool but it was still warm.

July 15, 2010: Yikes! I wish it was about 10 degrees cooler although we are comfortable in our air conditioned trailer. We visited the Heron Lake Marina which is maintained by the New Mexico Sailing Club. Seems to be a popular club.

July 14, 2010: We have an interesting guest overnight at our campsite. I get a nice morning view of Heron Lake, the dam and all the fishing boats trying to get the best fish.

July 13, 2010: Yikes, a hot day but still a good one. I road my bike into Tierra Amarilla then we cleaned house before driving to Chama.

July 12, 2010: Today included a tour of the northern New Mexico country side as well as the hamlet of Los Ojos. It was good road riding too.
