Saturday, February 22, 2025: Today I replaced the furnace thermostat and added an elbow to the freshwater hose to eliminate a kink in the hose.

The big job was removing and repairing the front storage door which had delaminated. I removed the door from the frame. I added Liquid Nails to the layers then placed a large piece of plywood on top of the lamentations. I dropped weight on top of the plywood to compress the parts together. After a drying period I replaced the foam board into the door and called the repair good. Click the two photos for another view.

Friday, February 21, 2025: Every time we travel in our little trailer we find things which need to be repaired or adjusted. I make a list so I remember what needs to be done when I get home.  This time my list including buying more 15 amp DC fuses which I haven't done yet. The ceiling fan I installed last summer was not working. I learned the ground wire had come loose so it is fixed. A front storage door needs some repair, I haven't started yet. The shower head needs to be lowered and a shower shelf needs to be moved. Both those jobs are done. The fresh water hose leading to the water pump needs to have an elbow. I need parts for that job. The furnace stopped working on the first day of our camping trip. This was disappointing since the mornings were at 39 degrees. I posted a question on the Livin Lite Facebook page and got many answers as to what the cause might be. I learned of a "sail switch" but found it was activated by the fan and the fan was not working. I ordered one to have on hand since it was only $10 and many said it often caused a problem. Another post said I should throw out the thermostat even if that wasn't the problem since the one installed often caused problems. I ordered a nice Honeywell digital thermostat which was recommended. It will arrive tomorrow. Another post suggested looking at a switch located inside the compartment. I found the switch but moving it did not help. After arriving home I had access to my multimeter so I could test for power. The thermostat had power and seemed to be working properly. That also meant the DC fuse was good. I removed the thermostat and tied the two wires connected to the thermostat together. The furnace immediately began working. So the thermostat was NOT good and I threw in the trash. I'll install the new thermostat tomorrow and test.

Thursday January 9, 2025: Last July I replaced the original faucet with the one on the left thinking it was better. Unfortunately, the short reach of the faucet made it nearly impossible to get your hands under the water outlet due to the shape of the sink.  Today, I replaced that faucet with the one on the right. Much better for hand washing.

Thursday, September 5, 2024: Three more improvements to our tiny living situation. I added a grab bar to the shower so us old people don't fall out of the shower.  I added remote controlled LED lights to the area over the stove where it always seemed dark even with all lights on.  Nand a paper towel rack was added in the kitchen above the sink.

Monday, August 12, 2024: This is a tiny trailer with a tiny bathroom so we need all the counter space we can get. I came across this outlet shelf in Amazon and with Gwen's approval, ordered and installed it. We have one bathroom outlet which is needed mostly for charging our toothbrushes but occasionally for Gwen's curling iron and hair dryer. Installation is easy, remove the outlet cover. Replace the cover with a metal cover which holds the shelf in place. The toothbrush charging cord is hidden inside the shelf. Click the right photo to see the results.

Thursday, August 8, 2024: This Camp Lite has three ceiling vent fans. Three is an unusual number for such a small trailer but welcome in my humble opinion. All three are high speed fans which move a lot of air HOWEVER, they have only two speeds, off and on! When on they are at full speed, very NOISY, almost unbearable. I've learned the bathroom fan can run with the bathroom door closed which cuts that fan noise to a whisper. I ordered a variable speed, quiet fan to replace the center fan. I figure the forward fan could be run when we are away from the trailer. I have installed these fans at least half a dozen times in our previous RVs. The hardest part is removing the old fan. These fans must be sealed securely to be sure no water can get in. All the sealer must be removed to remove the old fan. To install the new fan, ribbon caulk must go down first (click on the center photo). The fan is screwed into the caulk sealing securely. Just to be sure, a special self leveling sealer is used over the top of the screws and edges of the new fan. No water will get past! Click on all three photos for more views.

Monday, August 5, 2024: It is difficult to tell what this is, I'll describe it. There are two cabinets above our bed, one of the few places for clothes. The cabinet doors lift to open but have no method to stay open. The user must hold the door open with one hand while trying to put clothes in/out with the other hand. I installed these inexpensive white door catches on the ceiling to hold the door open while the user does whatever needs to be done. I have no idea what the previous owner did for nine years. Just another indication that they used this trailer very little.

Monday: July 29, 2024: A couple days ago I flushed the water heater. I did this by pulling the anode rod from the bottom of the heater. Then I ran an attachment into the heater which sprays water at high velocity washing the crud out of the tank. The old anode rod still had some magnesium however it was more than half gone. For $7 I replaced the anode rode with a new one. The purpose of the anode rod is to keep the tank from corroding by providing a magnesium surface which will slowly dissolve rather than dissolving the wall of the tank.

Sunday, July 28, 2024: Since this trailer is 99% aluminum the cabinet doors are framed in aluminum making the corners very sharp. I've been stabbed twice. I'm rounding the corners. I don't know how the previous owner put up with this for nine years. Click the left photo for another view.

Friday, July 26, 2024: The Camp Lite came with three high speed ceiling exhaust fans. These are used to bring in cooling outside air usually in the evening hours but any time the outside air is cooler than the hot air inside. Two of the fans had covers but the third over the bathroom did not. A cover is needed to have the lid raised on the fan (not necessarily turned on) in the rain or while moving down the road. They are usually dark colored to block the glare of the sun. I installed a third cover today. Click the photos for more views.

Saturday, July 20, 2024: Unlike most travel trailers, this trailer did not come with a safety handle or grab handle to help the camper in/out of the trailer door. I added one which we both needed!

Friday, July 19, 2024: The two knob bathroom faucet is replace with a single handle faucet. Much easier to use and easy to exchange. Click the photo on the right for a finished view.

Thursday, July 18, 2024: Our Camp Lite has not been updated. I believe the previous owners did not use it much. The two knob faucets are very difficult to use and waste a lot of water trying to get to the right temperature. This was an easy fix for the shower and the bathroom basin faucet will be next. Click on both photos for more views. Here is the final installation.
